Wally Murray has been the President/Chief Executive Officer of Greater Nevada Credit Union (GNCU) since 2000 and has spent over 28 years in a leadership capacity with that institution, which is the largest based in northern Nevada. He concurrently serves as the CEO of the credit union’s wholly owned subsidiaries, Greater Nevada Mortgage, Greater Nevada Insurance and Greater Nevada Commercial Lending.  Each of those entities heartily displays a Passion for “Helping More People Live Greater.”

During his credit union career Wally has also volunteered in a variety of advocacy roles at both the state and national level. Those include serving four terms as the Chairman of the Nevada Credit Union League (2009, 2010, 2015 & 2016). He also testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs in 2015 on the topic of regulatory relief, was appointed in 2014 to the National Credit Union Administration’s (NCUA) Industry Panel on its Proposed Risk Based Capital regulation, served on the Credit Union National Association’s (CUNA) Subcommittee on Examinations and Supervision from 2013-2016, and was a past member of the Governor’s Credit Union Advisory Council for the state of Nevada. He has twice been recognized as Nevada’s Credit Union Advocate of the Year.

In addition, his credit union was selected by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as the National Lender of the Year for 2016 for its success in delivering commercial credit to rural communities across the country.  The USDA’s recognition of GNCU with that award marked the first time in history that honor had ever been bestowed upon a credit union.
