Lucy Ito served as president & CEO of the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS) from 2014-2021. NASCUS is the national voice of the state credit union system, advocating for a robust dual-charter credit union system that mutually and equitably benefits both state and federally chartered credit unions. As the professional organization for state credit union regulators, NASCUS represents the state agencies that supervise over 1,900 state-chartered credit unions and $1.1 trillion in assets—52% all U.S. credit union assets, as of March 31, 2022.
Prior to joining NASCUS, Lucy spent 1989-2004 at the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) and 2004-2014 at the California and Nevada Credit Unions Leagues (CCUL/NCUL). At WOCCU, as vice president, she was responsible for technical programs and legislative and regulatory issues in Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Asia, and the Pacific. As executive vice president and chief operations officer at CCUL/NCUL, Lucy provided oversight to the Leagues’ four divisions of Advocacy; Member Solutions; Strategic Innovation and Planning; and Finance and Human Resources.
Just before her retirement at the end of 2021, Lucy served on the International Credit Union Regulators’ Network (ICURN) Board of Directors, the State Issues Committee of the American Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL), and the NCUA-SSA Joint Supervisory Working Group. Post-retirement, in 2022, Lucy is honored to be participating in the African-American Credit Union Coalition’s Cross Cultural Exchange Program and to have been recognized with the National Credit Union Foundation’s Herb Wegner Award for Lifetime Achievement.
